First United Church | An inclusive Christian community in Bloomington, Indiana As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.  

First United Church is a place where I can experience God in community: a place where I am taught by being served, a place to practice looking for the face of Christ so I will recognize it in each face I meet, a place that reminds me to notice God alongside me in my daily tasks, a place where I am allowed, encouraged, and needed to be in the community.

It is a bucket brigade that, if I consent, will tirelessly and unceasingly pour God's boundless love into my emptiness until I can overflow out into the world.

PROGRAMS & MINISTRIES

Our church exists to perform ministry in the world. We have a structure of permanent boards to facilitate this work, but we do not allow bureaucracy to interfere with the movement of the spirit. Indeed, as our Mission Statement indicates, we affirm the ministry gifts of every individual and we are committed to freeing people of faith to do ministry:
